Portland has enjoyed a respectable legacy of players in the tech industry, beginning with Tektronix in 1946. Portland, now has more than 1,200 technology companies and continues to pick up steam. In 2004, Portland’s largest employer became microcomputer components manufacturer, Intel Corporation. Portland has become very much its own high-tech city, much like its larger siblings up and down the west coast.
